The property is located in Budapest's 10th District, on Előd utca off Kőrösi Csoma út. There are industrial and commercial properties in the area as well as several-storey owner-occupied flats. This enormous cellar system extends for a total of 33 kilometres and there still remain areas to be discovered .
In terms of area, Kőbánya (32.5 square kilometres) is among the largest of the Budapest districts, lying 9th of the 23. Its population varies between 92 000 and 95 000. Kőbánya tops the list for parkland areas with 2 675 000 square metres of green space much of which (in fact around half) is provided by the Népliget (People's Park) although fortunately there are also numerous parks to be found on Ó- and Újhegy (Old and New Hill) developed post World War II. The eastern border of the district was once the city limit, although Kőbánya became an 'inner-city' district with the establishment of Greater Budapest in 1950. The outer ring roads (Hungária and Könyves Kálmán krt.) form the border with District VIII to the west while to the north Kerepesi út and the Pesti határút create the boundary with Districts XIV and XVI. To the east and southeast it borders District XVII (Rákoskeresztúr) and District XVIII (Pestszenterzsébet - Erzsébet-telep), while to the south Üllői út and the expressway to Ferihegy Budapest International Airport provide the joint boundary with Districts IX and XIX.
Besides the residential areas in Kőbánya, large-scale industrial, commercial and entertainment investment plans are awaiting implementation. There is news of an expansion of the retail park, renovation and expansion of the horse-racing course and the greening of former mining areas while there will also be significant investment in tourism in Felsőrákos. One of the largest and most spectacular developments is the Árkád Shopping Centre in Örs vezér Square. |
